May to protect armed forces against vexatious war claims through rights opt-out



British troops are to be protected against vexatious legal claims arising from future conflicts by the UK opting out from parts of human rights law, Prime Minister Theresa May has announced.
Under changes being outlined at the Conservative Party conference in Birmingham, the Government will adopt a presumption that it will take advantage of a right to suspend aspects of the European Convention on Human Rights at times of war.
