Massacre at local papers



AS THE week-long strike by Newsquest journalists in south London draws to a close, bosses at the media company have yet to show any willingness to back down on a sweeping purge that has seen 27 of 29 newsroom staff put on notice of redundancy.
Management at the penny-pinching firm must realise that their obstinacy has not brought them victory. The journalists will walk out again if the threats are not lifted — and with good reason.
