David Unsworth was put in temporary charge of the Merseyside outfit but has failed to deliver during his time in the dugout.
If there was any doubts over whether he would be offered the role on a full-time basis, Everton's 5-1 humbling at home to Atalanta this week may have been the final nail in his coffin.
Watford boss Marco Silva has been the firm-favourite for the job in recent weeks.
