Mansfield mayor fights plans to move town post office

The mayor of Mansfield has hit out at plans to relocate the town’s main post office branch.
Post Office has announced plans to move the branch from Church Street into WHSmith on West Gate.
However, Kate Allsop, district mayor, has hit out at the plans, fearing it could damage trade in the area.
She said: “The White Hart Street and Church Street area is a vital part of the town centre with many independent retailers who rely on footfall.
“The current location of the post office helps to maintain footfall in this area and supports those local retailers.”
