Manhunt under way after failed knife-point robbery in Newcastle

A manhunt is under way after a robber fled following a failed knifepoint robbery.
At around 10.25pm on Saturday a man carrying a knife burst in to the Morrisons petrol station in Two Ball Lonnen before demanding cash.
Police said the man, who was wearing a balaclava, fled the garage empty handed and police are now appealing for help to track him down.
The offender is described as being around 6ft tall and slim.
During the attempted robbery, he was wearing a distinctive blue and red striped jacket, dark trousers, and white trainers.
