Manager of axed Wetherspoon's pub calls for council to act



A PUB manager has called on the council to invest more in Grimsby town centre after it was revealed Wetherspoon's will close its Riverhead venue next month.
The pub, known as Ice Barque, will stop trading on November 2 as a result of "commercial decisions" taken by the company.
As reported yesterday, no redundancies will be made as a result of the closure, with the vast majority of the 25 members of staff moving to Wetherspoon's Yarborough Hotel on Bethlehem Street, which is currently undergoing extensive renovations to bring the hotel facility back into use.
