Man who attacked wife returns to job manning domestic violence hotline
 

A man who beat his wife ‘black and blue’ has been allowed to keep his job – helping domestic violence victims.
David Bird still works for council-run hotline Lifeline, which helps pensioners and abuse victims,, despite attacking his wife Nichola when she interrupted him while he was watching football.
He slapped her to the ground, dragged her around the garden of their home in Hull, East Yorkshire, and grabbed her throat during the half an hour ordeal, Nichola said.
