Man who attacked paramedic who tried to help him walks free from court
 

A 23-year-old man from Nottingham who attacked the paramedic who had tried to help him has been spared an immediate jail term.
Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court heard how Steven McVarrie, assaulted the medic who went to his aid in Stockbrook Street in Derby.
The hearing was told that the paramedic had gone to the aid of McVarrie, of Merchant Street, Bulwell, after a 999 call had been received shortly after 5.30pm saying that a man was lying in the road.
