Man we must thank for our top city landmarks

Here's a landmark building in Leicester that's so familiar to city folk, most of us don't even give it a second glance.
We all know where and what it is: Clarence House, the Humberstone Gate headquarters of Age UK (formerly Age Concern).
But, next time you pass by, stop a moment and take a good look: it's a fine, well-designed building, set, very unusually for the town centre, within its own forecourt.
The building dates from 1877-1878 and has an air of solidity and permanence about it.
