Man taken to hospital with stab wounds after assault in Leicester city centre



A man suffered stab wounds in an assault in Leicester's city centre this evening.
The victim was taken to hospital following the incident in Oxford Street at around 5.40pm.
A part of Oxford Street has been cordoned off following the serious assault as police examine the scene.
A police spokesperson said: "A man was admitted to hospital after he sustained stab wounds during an incident around 5.40pm in Oxford Street.
"Two lanes and the footpath on Oxford Street up to the junction with Bonners Lane has been closed.
"A third lane remains open for vehicles."
