Man saved after drifting a mile out to sea in his toy dinghy

A man who drifted a mile out to sea in his toy dinghy had to be rescued by a lifeboat crew.
The RNLI, who pulled the man to safety as he battled the wind and tide, said they could have been recovering a dead body if the alarm hadn’t been raised.
Footage shows lifeboat crews travelling out towards Teesside Wind Ram in the North Sea at around 7.30pm on Monday.
A crewman can be heard shouting ‘Ey up fella, what are you doing out here?’ before phoning the coastguard to say he was in a ‘£10 dinghy’.
The man was brought back to shore and given safety advice.
