Man rescued from under tram by witnesses using a penknife
 

A man was rescued from underneath a tram in Manchester city centre after quick thinking onlookers used a penknife to save him.
Video shows the astonishing moment shop workers used a knife to cut the man free after his rucksack got trapped in the undercarriage, pinning him down against the tracks.
He was knocked off his bike at the junction of High Street and Church Street, between Shudehill and Market Street Metrolink stops, at around 2.20pm yesterday.
He was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary, but his injuries are not thought to have been serious.
