Man missed court date because he was jailed in Australia for smuggling cocaine

A drug dealer who failed to appear in court because he was arrested in Australia for smuggling cocaine was today spared jail.
Ellis McParland, 23, of Hanwell Street, Anfield, was caught dealing a Class C drug at V Festival in Stafford in August 2013.
He was sentenced to a 12-month community order including unpaid work, which he failed to carry out, in April 2014.
But when he failed to attend Liverpool Crown Court over this breach in April 2015, lawyers revealed he was not in the country.
