Man ‘filmed hitting dog says he did it for the good of the animal’

A man allegedly caught on CCTV beating his dog said he was doing it for the animal’s own good.
It’s believed Jason Smart was filmed hitting his Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Frank, while walking down Manchester Road in Castleton on Monday October 3.

The footage shows a man hitting the dog at least twice in front of shocked passers-by.
