Man drowned after jumping in the River Trent to cool off, inquest hears
 

An inquest heard how a man died after jumping into a river on a hot summer's day to cool off.
Sylwester Ficon, of Uxbridge Street, Burton, went for a swim in the River Trent, in Burton, on July 18. However, the 46-year-old got into difficulty and was swept downstream by the current and drowned. An inquest at South Staffordshire Coroner's Court heard that the 46-year-old man, of Polish nationality, had been drinking with friends before jumping into the open water. He was more than three times the drink-drive limit.
