Man City boss Pep Guardiola owes his career to Barcelona legend Johan Cruyff



Pep Guardiola should never have been a Barcelona player.
In the early '80s, youngsters at Barcelona's famed La Masia academy had to be taller than 5ft 9in to have any chance of making it into the first-team.
The powers at be at the club believed football was changing and slight technicians and diminutive playmakers were no longer the way forward.
So, while Guardiola survived the so-called doll's trial height wise, few at Barcelona believed the skinny youngster had the physique to become a top-flight player.
