Man charged with punching five-day-old says he ‘thought it was a doll’
 

A man charged with punching a five-day-old baby in the face in Tesco claimed he thought it was a doll, a court heard.
Amy Duckers, 27, was showing her daughter Elsie Rose to friends in the supermarket when David Hardy, 63, allegedly struck the baby in the face.
Man and woman arrested for murder after baby is found dead on London bus Hardy, who appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court today, has admitted throwing a punch but denies the charge of common assault and claims he has been left ‘suicidal’ by the ordeal.
