Man attempts to climb Europe's highest mountain with his pet CAT - but storm stops their mission short just a whisker away from the summit 



A Russian mountain climber and his adventurous pet cat have narrowly failed in their unique attempt to conquer Europe's highest mountain together.
Andrey Ostanin and feline friend Graf, from the city of Nizhny Tagil in central Russia's Sverdlovsk Oblast region, very nearly scaled Mount Elbrus.
At 5,642 metres (18,510 feet), Elbrus - which crosses the border between south-western Russia's Karachay-Cherkess and Kabardino-Balkar republics - is the highest mountain in Europe and Russia, and the 10th highest in the world.
