Man appears in court to face murder charge



Mark James Bartholomew, 39, of no fixed abode, has been charged with the murder of 31-year-old Barrow man Andrew Hackett.
Bartholomew made no indication of plea when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates' Court in Barrow today (14) in front of magistrates and a crowded public gallery.
He was remanded in custody ahead of a bail hearing on Monday December 18 at Preston Crown Court.
Appearing in the dock flanked by police officers, Bartholomew spoke only to confirm his name and address in the five minute hearing.
