Man accused of sex assaults against women allegedly assaulted while on remand in jail
 

A man accused of sex assaults against two women has allegedly been assaulted while on remand in jail.
Teesside Crown Court heard Shaun Bate was “attacked” by inmates at Holme House prison ahead of his trial over the alleged Teesside assaults, which occurred just one day apart.
A judge has also refused Bate bail, ordering him to remain behind bars until his trial which is expected to take place later this year.
Appearing via video link, the 28-year-old defendant told the court he was assaulted at the Stockton jail.
