REFEREEING in the lower league junior ranks was once described to me as like taking on Andy Murray at tennis using a ping pong bat.
It's a tough job that's for sure - especially when our refs in the bottom leagues are handicapped by having no proper assistants to share the flak.
But sometimes you're still left wondering how on earth they managed to make such a complete farce of it.
