The £23m University of Nottingham building that burned down during construction is finally open – and could now become a centre for "life-changing" research.
The GlaxoSmithKline Carbon Neutral Laboratory for Sustainable Chemistry, located on the university's Innovation Park in Triumph Road, will be used by PhD students and top researchers to help find therapies for asthma.
Built using a timber frame and with solar panels and grass turf on the roof, it is said to be the world's first chemistry lab to make no overall contribution to greenhouse gases or the acceleration of climate... read more
