Longbridge exit down to 'Brexit vote and flawed business model'
 

Aston University professor and Birmingham Post columnist David Bailey feels the Brexit vote is behind the decision to pull the plug on car production at MG Motor UK's plant in Longbridge.
Last week, the marque's owner Shanghai Automotive (SAIC) announced the production facility would no longer be needed following a cost-cutting drive and despite rising sales.
Prof Bailey said the historic EU referendum vote in June was probably one of the contributory reasons why SAIC took the decision to cease production, along with a flawed business model and sales below expectations.
