Long Metro delays after man fell onto the tracks at St James' Metro Station in Newcastle
 

Emergency services were called to St James’ Metro station this morning after a man fell onto the tracks, police say.
The man is not believed to have suffered serious injuries, but was taken to Newcastle’s RVI by ambulance.
Trains running from the station towards the coast were stopped while the man was brought back onto the platform, which caused a gap of more than 20 minutes between trains during the busy morning period.
Passengers reported extremely busy trains following the stoppage, and knock-on delays lasted for three hours, with disruption finally clearing by 10.25am.
