Liverpool's newest hole in the road could be worse than Edge Lane

These pictures show workers digging out the hole under a major Liverpool road – and they warn it could be as big as the one that stopped Edge Lane traffic for weeks.
Croxteth Road near Sefton Park was shut yesterday after an investigation into the source of a gas leak revealed a “significant void” below the carriageway.
Today a team has been excavating the site to work out just how big the hole is.
Workers told the Echo that there was a “huge cavern” under the road that was similar to the one that developed in Edge Lane in July.
