Liverpool FC player guilty of affray after punching man who sat down in his VIP area
 

A Liverpool FC under 23s player who attacked a man for sitting in his VIP area in a nightclub walked free from court today.
Lloyd Jones, who was on loan from Liverpool FC to Swindon Town at the time of the incident, repeatedly punched Elijah Weir in the Moo Moo club, Cheltenham, after Mr Weir sat down in a private area reserved for Jones and his teammates.
Gloucester Crown Court was told that another man also joined in the attack and it was not clear who caused the most serious injury suffered by Mr Weir - a 2cm cut over his eye which needed 12 stitches,
