Lightning strikes seen from space could soon make weather forecasts a lot more accurate

While lightning can be frightening to behold, it can also be extremely useful to researchers predicting the weather.
This month, Nasa is scheduled to launch a new satellite that will provide the first non-stop eye on lightning over North America.
Researchers hope that the data collected can be used for weather prediction, both as a hazard and a forecasting tool.
