0 Have your say My father played for Staincliffe Cricket Club before and after the First World War and I played for the club in the 1960s.
It was therefore a great privilege when Mount Cricket Club, whose home is at the old Staincliffe ground, invited me and my wife to attend the games of cricket and festivities connected with the visit of the cricket team from the Vatican in Rome.
All those involved saw at first hand the warm friendship and unity of spirit and purpose of the two teams and their supporters.
