Let us build HS2, says UK steel industry after French win Trident deal



Industry chiefs are piling pressure on ministers to ensure steel produced in the UK is used to build the High Speed 2 rail link.
Liberty House Group and British Steel are pushing to become key suppliers in the scheme linking London with the Midlands and the North.
The £56billion rail link – which will require 2m tons of steel – won Government approval last week, and a guarantee that British-made steel will be used in the project would provide a lifeline for the struggling industry.
