Less than a third of parents save regularly for their children as money is often too tight to do so



British parents usually save around £45 a month for their children but less than a third do so regularly as money is often too tight, a new survey reveals.
Although many feel under pressure to provide for the future of their offspring, only 29 per cent save every month for this cause, while around half do so only occasionally, according to research by Nationwide.
However, around 21 per cent said they were not saving a penny for their children, with the majority admitting that they could not afford to do so.
