Leicestershire County Council backs out of voluntary scheme to take in child asylum seekers



County Hall has decided to back out of a voluntary Government scheme to look after unaccompanied child asylum seekers.
Conservative-run Leicestershire County Council says it cannot afford to continue to take in any more youngsters unless Tory ministers stump up more cash to cover the costs.
The Government is looking to spread the cost of caring for the young asylum seekers which is currently falling the hardest on councils in the South East - nearest to the point where most of them arrive from Europe.
