Leicester 'needs 24 new schools to cope with demand'​ - but council boss claims report is misleading



A council boss has called a report claiming the city needs 24 new schools "misleading."
Councillor Sarah Russell, assistant city mayor for education, was responding to a report by public sector procurement specialist Scape Group.
The report claims that Leicester needs 19 new primary schools and five secondary to deal with increased demand.
It adds that pupil numbers across both sectors are set to rise by 19 per cent over the next four years in Leicester - some 8,847 pupils.
