Leicester cyclists want plain-clothed police bike patrols to catch dangerous 'close pass' drivers



Cyclists are calling for Leicestershire Police to follow the lead of their West Midlands colleagues and deploy plain-clothed officers on bikes to crack down on dangerous drivers.
Last month the West Midlands force became the first in the UK to adopt a tactic to catch motorists who 'close pass' cyclists by failing to give them sufficient space when overtaking them.
The rules of the road stipulate drivers should give cyclists at least the same space as vehicles when overtaking.
