Leicester council under pressure to explain future of disused Western Park Golf Club



Council bosses have come under pressure to explain what they intend to do with Western Park Golf Club.
The city council closed the 18-hole course nearly a year ago because it said player numbers were in decline and it could no longer afford the £123,000 annual subsidy to keep it running.
The matter was raised at a recent council meeting.
Lone Conservative councillor Ross Grant said he wondered if Labour deputy mayor Rory Palmer's enthusiastic tweeting about the Ryder Cup indicated a "change of attitude" to golf by the council's executive.
