Lawyers claim dramatic victory as female Asda staff battle for equal pay
 

Lawyers are claiming a “dramatic victory” for female Asda workers in their bid to be paid the same as their male colleagues.
Law firm Leigh Day said an employment tribunal ruling today had opened the door for 872 local staff to push ahead with claims for equal pay.
But an Asda spokesman played down the ruling as a “technical preliminary issue” rather than the outcome of the case, and said the supermarket strongly disputed the claims.
