Kurds ‘pull back’ east across Euphrates as tanks roll in

WASHINGTON claimed yesterday that Syrian Kurdish forces have withdrawn east of the Euphrates river following the US’s demands to retreat or risk losing their backing.
Turkey sent at least 10 more tanks over the border — in addition to Wednesday’s initial invasion force of 20 — to support rebel fighters pushing south towards Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) militia positions.
