'Kickboxing makes you humble, fit and confident': Coach nominated as Community Champion
 

Kickboxing is in Darren Catterson’s blood.
Not only has he racked up an impressive third degree black belt in the sport and competed in world championships, the 41-year-old from Middlesbrough loves nothing more than encouraging youngsters into the world of martial arts.
He set up Tech Masters Martial Arts School 18 months ago at Thorntree Community Hub, having already ran his own kickboxing academy in York.
It’s a family-run business with partner Kate Szabo and stepdaughter Virginia, 16, as senior assistant coach and junior coach respectively.
