Rutherglen Glencairn’s long wait to lift the West of Scotland Cup will go on for another season after they lost on penalties to Irvine Meadow XI, writes Peter Ferguson.
Striker Paddy Cullen’s spot-kick cancelled out Conor Browning’s second-half strike for the visitors in normal time before losing 4-3 in the shoot-out.
Despite controlling the majority of the match, the woodwork and some excellent goalkeeping by Meadow keeper Shaun Newman denied the home side on a number of occasions.
