Jose Aldo requests UFC release and threatens to retire after missing out on Conor McGregor rematch



The announcement of Conor McGregor's headlining bout against Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 looks to have been the final straw for Jose Aldo.
The interim featherweight champion has grown tired of waiting for a chance to avenge his 13 second loss to the Irishman in December and has asked for his release from the promotion.
Aldo's 10-year hold over the division was brought to an abrupt end at UFC 194 and he has hell-bent on retaining his crown ever since.
