John Swinney confirms £107M hit to Holyrood budget: 'Taxes may have to rise to cover cost of Tory Shambles'
 

THE Scottish Government may be forced to raise taxes to cover the black hole left in Holyrood’s budget by Tory cuts.
Finance Secretary John Swinney confirmed he’d consider using new devolution powers to increase revenue today after a meeting with Chancellor George Osborne.
The talks came as the UK Government announced a £107million budget cut for Holyrood this year – rather than the £177million mooted last week.
While the larger figure was not confirmed by the Treasury, the reduction of £70million is cold comfort for the Scottish Government.
