John Lennon Airport fire: 'All we could see was the smoke and flames'
 

Passengers tonight spoke of the terrifying moment they saw smoke and flames just feet from their plane.
They were waiting to get off the easyJet flight from Belfast when the alarm was raised at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
A ground power unit, which provides electricity to the plane when the engines have been turned off, had caught fire.
Marley Whelan, from Ellesmere Port, was sitting in the ninth row and told the ECHO: “We were waiting to disembark when they told us to leave our bags and exit the plane as soon as possible.
