Johanna Konta overcomes fellow Brit Naomi Broady to progress to second round in the Hong Kong Open
British number one Johanna Konta joined Heather Watson in the second round of the Hong Kong Open with victory over compatriot Naomi Broady.
Konta reached the final of the China Open last week, where she was beaten by Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska, and as a result became the first British woman to break into the top 10 of the world ranking in 32 years.
The 25-year-old - who is also now on course to reach the WTA Finals in Singapore later this month - had too much for Broady, making the most of early breaks in each set to complete a 6-2 6-2 win in one hour and 19 minutes.
