Joey Barton betting charge sparks world player's union to issue warning to all players
 

THE world footballer's union FIFPro has issued a statement to all players regarding betting following Joey Barton's high profile case.
Rangers midfielder Barton was yesterday charged by the SFA over betting on 44 matches since joining Mark Warburton's side in the summer.
In a statement on the players' unions website entitled "Be smart: think before you bet", Barton's case is highlighted alongside Partick Thistle midfielder Steve Lawless - who picked up a six-match ban after being accused of betting on 513 games last year.
