Joachim Low's Germany in mood to improve despite only ever tasting defeat twice in World Cup qualifying



If Germany don’t have enough reasons to be confident of victory against Northern Ireland tonight, consider this: England’s 5-1 win in Munich 15 years ago remains just their second defeat in World Cup qualifying.
Of 86 games going back to 1934, there have been 66 wins, 18 draws and those two losses — to Portugal in 1985 and to Sven Goran Eriksson’s side on that unforgettable night in 2001.
When Germany boss Joachim Low visits Russia next month to assess training bases for the 2017 Confederations Cup, he might as well make a double booking for the 2018 World Cup as well.
