It's official: Conservatives select Andy Street as West Midlands Mayor candidate
 

Top businessman Andy Street has been selected as the Conservative candidate for next year's election of a West Midlands mayor.
The John Lewis boss had been the favourite for the role and the Tories officially confirmed him as their candidate tonight, Thursday September 29.
Brummie Andy Street went to King Edwards School in Edgabaston before earning a place at Oxford University. He joined John Lewis as a trainee and started work on the shop floor, working his way up to the top job - managing director - in 2007.
