‘It must never happen again’ – Nature reserve to protect 1,750 Hull homes is welcomed



A flood defence scheme that is expected to protect 1,750 homes from a repeat of the devastating floods of 2007 has been welcomed.
A nature reserve to help alleviate surface water flooding is set to created on land flanking Holderness Drain, protecting homes in Bransholme and east Hull from another washout.
Former mayor and Bransholme West councillor Anita Harrison remembers elping pensioners out of bungalows in the area when the floods hit nine years ago, and called the scheme a "step in the right direction".
