North East owners of the newly issued fiver are attempting to rake in thousands by putting rare notes for sale on Ebay.
The upgraded five pound bill is considered by some as a collector’s item because they are the first plastic currency issued from the Bank of England.
An owner in South Shields has listed their £5 plastic bill for £2,000. The note has a serial number of AB48388988, meaning it was one of the earlier notes printed from the press.
