Inspirational motor neurone disease sufferer dies at the age of 31
 

A North East man whose courage and dignity in the face of motor neurone disease inspired a huge fundraising effort by his family and friends has died.
David Greaves, who was 31, died earlier this week with his wife Philippa at his side. The couple had been married for just one year.
Last month, David’s parents, Andrew and Sarah, from Hexham, Northumberland, spoke movingly about their son’s illness as a team of his family and friends prepared to take part in the Great North Run.
This week they said David had “left behind all his recent pain and suffering” and had died in his own bed.
