Iain Duncan Smith forced to apologise for ‘second rate lawyer’ comment
Iain Duncan Smith has issued a grovelling apology for calling one of the country’s most senior barristers a ‘second rate lawyer’.
IDS was roundly mocked when he lobbied the insult at Sir Keir Starmer – who is not only a QC, but is also a knight, a barrister with 29 years’ experience, and was formerly the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Not really what most people would call ‘second rate’.
Sir Keir, Labour’s Shadow Brexit Secretary, had clashed with pro-Brexit IDS over… well, Brexit.
