SCOTLAND striker Chris Martin believes he was "fortunate" to start the 5-1 World Cup qualifying win in Malta - but believes his subsequent goal has helped him to feel he belongs in the national team.
Martin was surprisingly handed the lone striker role by Gordon Strachan ahead of Steven Fletcher after Celtic's Leigh Griffiths pulled out through injury for the match in Malta.
The frontman, who is on loan at Fulham from Derby County, responded with a goal in the 5-1 victory in what was only his third start in nine international appearances.
